The major water issue nowadays is lack of water and the lack of water quality where there is water. Only 1% of the water on earth is drinkable and that number is dropping due to pollution and other means of contaminating water. Plus to add to the problem 70% of he water that is still drinkable is being used to water plants instead of watering people. Another problem is that people see water as a third world issue even though it is not just a problem for impoverished countries and desert countries.
there are many different programs who's goal is to bring water to a impoverished country or to clean up a river. there are programs where you can do something as simple as clicking a button or putting a penny in a jar but then there are some that are a bit more hands on where you might actually go to another country and hand out bottles of fresh drinking water or scoop trash out of a river.
in order to solve this huge problem i have a three step plan: step 1. raise awareness about the issue, all solutions begin with this simple step that always seems so important. step 2. once people know about the problem you have to make sure that they know how big it is and that it affects everyone step 3. get people involved, once people know how big the problem is there're probably going to want to help, so you must have a program for them to work with.
for our class to help with these issues i think that we should mainly focus on step 1 and 2. if we can get everyone in the school to the point where that they know about the problem and how big it is then i think that we can leave step three to the programs that where already formed.
